As I was driving to work one day the sun was barely rising above the horizon, its bright white rays stretching toward the early morning sky. It was such a breathtaking sight that I immediately felt compelled to take a picture of it. Pulling my truck to the side of the road I grabbed my phone and quickly took a snapshot before the sun moved any higher. I had felt such a strong desire to capture that single moment of intense beauty. As my heart begin to fill with a deep gratitude and reverence for God’s gift of nature, I wanted to hold on to that special feeling as long as possible.
Though unable to put into to words my experience that morning, I can share with you that I was reminded there is still much beauty to be found in this world. Life often seems so chaotic and confusing that we begin to wonder if we can ever achieve a sense of calmness amidst the storm. I say yes, we can experience a divine peace and contentment if we would take a few minutes each day to acknowledge and savor the Creator’s gifts of beauty that surround us. Slow down a little, live in the present, and clear your mind of negative thoughts and images so you can better “capture a moment” that will lift your spirits, give you hope, and fill your heart with gratitude.
Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better. ~ Albert Einstein
