Our ability to find peace of mind and personal fulfillment in life greatly depends upon how well we accept our “self”. Self-acceptance is the ability to completely accept and approve of ourselves including all our weaknesses and imperfections. If we want to increase our state of happiness and find peace and balance in our daily lives we need to cultivate and nurture the ability to accept ourselves just as we are. It doesn’t mean that we cannot grow and learn to improve but when we strengthen our ability to be more compassionate and less judgmental with ourselves we begin to develop a love and appreciation for all that we are, all that we have been, and all that we can become. This in turn is the catalyst that boosts our self-esteem and increases our sense of worth. The measure of contentment and satisfaction we have in this life is greatly determined by how much we love and approve of the person in the mirror.
“If you had a friend who spoke to you in the same way that you sometimes speak to yourself, how long would you allow that person to be your friend?” ~Unknown
